Steam Cleaners Remove Allergens From Bedroom Areas

Carpets & Flooring: Steam cleaners are a fantastic option for cleaning carpets and flooring. Steam cleaner tools, like the floor brush and extension wands make steam cleaning a cinch. Make sure that carpets are vacuumed regularly - at least once or twice a week. Other flooring surfaces should be swept and kept free from dirt and dust. Allergy tip: Empty or replace the vacuum bag before it reaches full capacity. Consider using a vacuum cleaner that uses a HEPA filter. If allergies are severe, an option would be to remove carpeting and install hardwood flooring.

Hardwood flooring, laminate and tile and more can be cleaned and sanitized using a steam cleaner. To kill dust mites often found in carpets, we suggest using a floor steam cleaner such as the SteamVortex floor steam cleaner. Steam cleaning has been found to be one of the most effective ways to kill and control dust mites because dust mites can not control their body temperature and are therefore killed easily by extreme heat. The carpet glide attachment allows you to glide across carpets easily while emitting high temperature steam to kill germs below.

Walls: Clean walls at least every six months to remove dust, smoke build up, or spider webs.

Steam cleaning walls is a very effective way to quickly remove dust or other build up. By using a covered floor brush attachment of one of our home steam cleaners, walls can be cleaned in minutes. Use a top to bottom constant motion and do not stay in one area for a long period of time. Furniture: Depending on the furniture type, vacuum and dust regularly with a damp cloth. Keep dressers/nightstands free of clutter and dust regularly.

Dust mites in furniture can also be controlled and destroyed by using a home steam cleaner. The VaporStorm, the VaporStormTSI and the SteamTitan steam cleaners can be used to effectively clean furniture. Please be aware that some fabrics/surfaces are not recommended for steam cleaning. Always test a small unnoticeable area first before cleaning large areas.

Mattress/Box springs: Plastic covers are available for mattress and box springs. Vacuuming both sides of your mattress for at least two minutes twice monthly can also reduce dust and allergens.

To kill and control the spread of dust mites, we suggest steam cleaning mattresses at least once a month. When sheets have been removed to launder, use the floor brush attachment of either the VaporStorm, the VaporStormTSI or the SteamTitan steam cleaner with floor cloth and push the brush back and forth over the top of the mattress in single lines. Slowing pull and push the brush across the mattress until the entire area has been cleaned. Let cool before covering with sheets.

Bedding: It is recommended to wash sheets and pillow cases weekly. Wash blankets/ comforters, and mattress pads monthly. Allergy sufferers should avoid down-filled pillows and bedding. Use a steam cleaner to refresh and clean pillows. Pets: Steam cleaners are a great solution for cleaning pet areas. Because steam cleaners use vapor steam, there are no chemical residues to bother your pets. Areas in your home or bedroom that animals have contact with should be steam cleaned regularly. Comforters, pillows, rugs, etc. should be vacuumed and steam cleaned as soon as possible after an animal has had contact. Consider keeping pets (furry or feathered) out of the bedroom if possible.
